2017 Young Journalist Award

10 August 2017

More than 1000 Catholic school students across Australia entered this year’s competition, sharing the stories of 'justice heroes' in their community.

The judging panel went through all the entries, looking for stories showing journalistic initiative and creativity in writing. The quality of the record number of entries this year was impressive, making the task of choosing winners extremely difficult. Thank you to everyone who shared your stories. We hope you are inspired to keep writing and look forward to hearing from you again next year.

The winners and runners-up in each section can be found in this edition. The full stories, as well as those that received honourable mentions, will also be available at www.australiancatholics.com.au.

Judges: Fr Andrew Hamilton SJ (Eureka Street/Australian Catholics Editorial Consultant), Michael McVeigh (Australian Catholics Editor), Clare Deignan (Australian Catholics Assistant Editor).

Thanks to our major sponsor, Australian Catholic University, for their continued support for young aspiring media professionals. Thanks also to our other prize sponsors Sharpie and Papermate and Eureka Street.
